Dreaming a little dream

Sea view room at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel, Cornwall (UK)
…of a weekend by the sea to blow the cobwebs away.
How perfect does this place look?
Ahh, one day… maybe soon.

sad inside
Have you ever noticed that you become super-empathetic when heart-sick?
I’m feeling pretty sad at the moment as my lovely grandmother died yesterday (peacefully and at 88. She was ready so its a selfish kind of sadness as we’re going to miss her badly) and I’m finding myself really feeling for people – I mean physically hurting – when I hear of others who are having a tough time. I was just watching these captivating films by Crush+Lovely (via Random Acts of Reality) and felt as though I’d been hit in the chest by what the guy at 3:23 had to say. I really hope he’s doing OK.
I’m glad the guy at 2:29 got his wish though!
busy busy busy
time is melting at the moment with so many things that need doing (and so little energy to do them!) and I’m afraid one of the many balls that keep falling around my feet is this little blog. I’m hoping that after the crisis that is today and tomorrow some sort of calm will be restored, though there are a few more crunches to come before I can really settle.
Anyway – I didn’t come here to moan but to share this brilliant quote that the gorgeous and indecently talented Heather Bailey featured on her blog today:
“To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived – this is to have succeeded”
***Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)Because sometimes a little moment to pause (and remember that its OK if you don’t manage to change the world by tea time) is all that’s required to make the day seem more manageable.
